Trash My TBR is a series of videos on my BookTube channel of the same name as this blog which came about after I watched a video of another BookTuber asking folks to help her weed out books from her Amazon wishlist. She gave me permission to fuck with the idea and every little while I would share with y’all the books that are on my goodreads TBR with hopes of reducing the list to the best of the best.

The Rules: Tell me if any of these books meet the following criteria for trashing:

  1. Does the work misrepresent a race, gender, sexual orientation, disability/condition, body type, or other marginalized group (class, etc.)?
  2. Does the work harm the reader?
  3. Does the author use hate speech, contribute to hateful organizations, or otherwise harm others?
  4. Is the writing style challenging or inaccessible? Is it too slow? Is there too much or too little of an important technical element?
  5. Did you rate it 1, 2, or yes also 3 stars?
  6. Try really hard not to praise any of these works!!! I know it will hurt, but I will give you ample opportunities in other posts for praise.
Should I just skip it and watch the movie?
BLL was a blast and My Husband’s Secret was an enjoyable mess.
I’ve enjoyed works by this author a lot, DNFed one, and know one is very fat phobic.
This one has been on and off of my TBR due to mixed reviews.
This one has been on and off of my TBR due to mixed reviews.
I heard this was extremely harmful and yet it’s coming to Netflix?
I’ll be honest, I want to cut this for he cover alone.
I’ve read and watched some conflicting reviews about this. Let me know if it’s harmful and how.
I am very new to books with these kinds of covers.
Or should I just watch he movie?
I know this is about incest. And there’s no audiobook.
I really liked Pretty Girls and thought another was good.
I am very new to books with these kinds of covers.
I did not like the writing style or pacing of Horrorstor.
I heard this sucked?
This author gets recommended to me a lot.
I am very new to books with these kinds of covers.
This is one of my favorite authors so you’d really have to sell me on cutting it.
Loved The DUFF and Run.
I feel it’s my responsibility to read all books about MH.
I love the virtual gimmick.
I had zero interest in this due to the reviews saying it’s subpar, but I loved Tiny Pretty Things a lot!
Open Road Summer was solid.
Kulti was fun.
There was a lot of hype for this but I know nothing about it.
Love Wayward and recently enjoyed Into the Drowning Deep.
There’s just so much hype and the fact that I’ve seen the author on twitter for months beforehand makes me want to not read it.
I really hate this cover.
I am so excited for this series.
Spinning was super depressing without any glimmer of hope at the end so idk if I should continue.
I’m worried about this working for me.
I’ve heard mixed reviews but was told my take on this would be crucial so it would be tough for me to cut it.
Literally a million and three people begged or ordered me to read this so.
Heard great reviews about this as a contemporary.
There’s no audiobook??
I’ve put this on and taken this off my TBR a few times, but, I love Graceling so much.
Nina LaCour is one of those authors I swear I only read because her work is gay, like Jen Wilde. Otherwise, I don’t get the hype.
This cover does not appeal to me but I loved the author’s previous work.
I have no idea what this is.
I keep taking this off and putting it back on my TBR.
Amy Reed could be one of my favorite authors even though Roanoke Girls was a mess.
There’s no audiobook? How do people expect me to read anything?
Loved As the Crow Flies.
Girl in Pieces owned my soul in a way I didn’t think was possible.
The cover promises mediocrity?
I know the issues folks have with this author and his works, but.
I am so intimidated by this.
I feel like this author writes the same book over and over but everyone loves it?
Am I the only one who is really bothered about how this looks like To All the Boys?
Jordi Perez was worth reading.
I did not like Horrorstor and thought Daisy Jones was just okay.
I mean, she is bae and also she is me.
Probably one of my favorite authors so good luck getting me to cut this.
This is the chosen book for an agency-wide read-along through my work.
Loved Mondays Not Coming but heard Allegedly was not nuanced.
Loved the writing style of My Sister the Serial Killer.
Loved tiny Pretty Things.
Just as I only read LaCour for gay and Wilde for bi, I only read Murphy for fat and I almost always give the work a low rating.
Heretics Anonymous was solid.
Stronger Than You Know blew me away.
For srs: this cover looks like me and that’s the only thing I know or care about.
GoodReads recommended this to me because I loved Moxie.
Loved Beautiful Creatures.
New to this genre.
New to books like this.
She’s a must-read for me along with LaCour and Murphy even though I’m not wild about their works.
Keep taking it off the TBR and putting it back on.

  1. I feel like the people who hated 99 Percent Mine were just passed that its not The Hating Game 2.0. Darcy has a lot of baggage and is just a darker character than Lucy. I really loved 99 Percent Mine

Bitch, you can take Arrows of the Queen off only if you add Magic’s Pawn instead.

Boyfriend Material was REALLY hard for me to get i to because it’s written in the 3rd person present tense. Gross.

I DNFd Pumpkin Everything, thought it was meh and boring.

A Hunger Like No Other really sets up the world building for the rest of the Immortals After Dark series, which is bonkers and amazing paranormal romance, so worth reading.

There were a few others I was going to touch on but this list is so long and I’m tired of scrolling back up, so that’s what you get for now.
